Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph

Amaidhi supports three projects set up by sisters of the congregation Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph. This congregation concentrates on healthcare and education.

It concerns the Don Bosco School projects in PT Parru, St. Joseph's Hospital in Kamalapuram and St. Thomas Hospital in Chennai. These are just three of the many departments that the sisters have established throughout India.

The congregation is an Indian nuns order. Curious enough, it was founded in 1883 by the Dutchman Jan Aelen who, at that moment, was Bishop of Madras (later called Chennai). The headquarters, the mother house, of the Franciscan Sisters, is still in Chennai, near St. Thomas Mount, the legendary place where the apostle Thomas is said to have lost his life.
